Aston Villa fans are convinced that PSG starlet Ibrahim Mbaye should join the club this summer after what he did to seal the Ligue 1 title for the French giants.

Villa are preparing for a huge summer transfer window as they edge ever closer to clinching qualification for the Champions League.

Unai Emery’s side can confirm their return to the UCL with a win over Liverpool on Friday night, while lifting the Europa League trophy next week would also see them qualify automatically.

They are set to be in the market for several top players if they make the competition, with PSG youngster Mbaye reportedly on their radar.

It remains to be seen if the 18-year-old will be involved in Villa’s transfer plans, but their supporters are convinced that a move should happen after his impressive cameo performance on Wednesday night.

Mbaye made his 23rd Ligue 1 appearance of the campaign at Lens on Wednesday, with his 93rd-minute strike sealing a fifth successive title triumph for PSG.

The teenage winger picked the ball up midway through his own half on the left flank before he played a one-two with Goncalo Ramos, sprinted forward, and got on the end of Desire Doue’s pass to finish expertly from the edge of the Lens box.

His fantastic strike was reposted by a Villa fan on X, with many flooding to the replies to offer their verdict on a potential summer move.

One wrote: “Please (sign him). (He has the) pace and flair we ain’t had for years.”

While another added: “Bring (him) immediately, he’s so good.”

And one supporter said: “Right here is our (Moussa) Diaby replacement.”

What is Mbaye’s current situation at PSG?

Mbaye signed a contract extension at PSG last December, with his new deal running until 2028, so a deal is not set to come cheap this summer.

Sources have revealed to Football Insider that Villa are set for a £50million windfall by making the Champions League, though, so they should have the means to sign Mbaye if PSG are open to a sale.

L’Equipe covered the rumours around his future last month, stating that his camp were confused at his lack of minutes after returning from AFCON in January.

PSG reportedly rejected the theory that his game time was being affected by interest from Villa and other Premier League clubs, but it is clear that his future will be resolved this summer, and a departure could well be in the offing.
