Aston Villa fans are unhappy with the possibility that Micah Richards could earn double his current £35,000-per-week salary if the club returns to the Premier League this summer, according to a report.
The Daily Mail suggest that if Steve Bruce’s side gain promotion to the English top-flight then he could be in line to earn £70,000-per-week despite not having kicked a ball for the club all season.
And in the last campaign, his appearances total for the Birmingham club was almost as bad, having made just three outings in 2016/17.
At 29, the former Manchester City ace still has plenty of time to get his career back on track which has stalled considerably since he left the current champions-elect.
On Tuesday, it was the 500th day since the right-back last played for the Claret and Blues and has a contract with the club until 2019.
It is thought that Richards has been fit for the most part since his move to Villa back in 2015 despite a long-standing knee meniscus issue, but is not entirely fancied by his manager.
Here is a selection of Twitter responses to the possible wage hike of the defender:
Same for Gabby tbh. He's had more than enough of an opportunity to switch his fortunes round. They both should be shown the exit door as soon as possible.

My word this is horrendous. Micah Richards is an absolute joke to the professional game. Pay increase if we get promoted whilst going into the final year of his contract? Get out. #AVFC https://t.co/ZaaUAr4Fpr

Poor management in any profession is very very wearing and can lead to all sorts of reactive behavior. Personally i put alot of the blame on learner and those who facilitated the toxic culture at VP.

Insane! Don't suppose he can stay fit long enough to go out on loan. That and no-one wants him…..

Bruce’s side are currently third in the Championship table after seeing their run of seven straight league victories come to an end against Fulham, and will hope they can claw back the four-point advantage Cardiff currently have over them in second when they host QPR at Villa Park on Saturday.
