Aston Villa fans react on Twitter to senior defender speculation

By Amir Mir

Aly Cissokho is a January transfer target for European giants Olympiacos – and fans on Twitter stated that they would be happy to see him leave.

The Sun claim the 29-year-old senior figure is a target for the Greek side who are plotting a move for the out-of-favour left-back.

Cissokho has been replaced by Jordan Amavi in the Villa starting XI after the former Valencia player made numerous mistakes during his last outings.

He gave away consecutive penalties against Wolves and Reading in October which saw manager Steve Bruce replace him in the side.

Since then, he has not made an appearance for the club as his time with the Championship club could be coming to an end.

Fans on Twitter were pleased to hear of this as they stated that they would more than happily see him leave the club.

One supporter even stated that he would drive the Frenchman to the interested club to ensure he leaves Villa Park.

While others were hoping the reported interest from the Greek champions does happen and Cissokho is sold during the window.

At this moment in time, if Cissokho is sold, then Amavi would be the only remaining specialist left-back at the club with centre-back Nathan Baker able to switch to the left side.

Overall, fans were happy to see the Frenchman’s name linked with other clubs as they weren’t too fussed to see him leave.
