Aston Villa have tabled a bid worth £10million for Middlesbrough striker Jordan Rhodes - and fans on Twitter have reacted with mixed views.

The Sun claim that Steve Bruce has seen the offer rejected for the 26-year-old Premier League forward.

The report details that Villa offered a £6million-plus-add-ons for Rhodes after mulling over a possible deal for weeks.

Rhodes has fallen out of favour at the Riverside Stadium this season with summer signing Alvaro Negrado preferred to the Scotsman.

Additionally, Boro also purchased Villa target-man Rudy Gestede this month as both clubs could be looking to get another deal over the line.

Fans on social media believe the £10million offer made and rejected is more than enough for Rhodes as they urged the club not to make another move.

However, another supporter stated that considering the Premier League side paid £6million for Gestede then effectively Villa will be paying £4million for Rhodes.

Other fans believe the former Blackburn man would be a good signing for the club as they require a player who is dangerous in the box.

Here is a selection of their messages on Twitter:

If the Rhodes deal goes through then it will be the fifth time since the summer that both Villa and Boro have negotiated deals.

Goalkeeper Brad Guzan and winger Adama Traore made summer moves from the Midlands to the north east, with Albert Adomah coming the other way.

Gestede was then purchased this month as Rhodes could now make a return to the Championship to try and help Villa make a push up the table.
