Aston Villa fans react on Twitter after reported offer for 26-year-old midfield ace

Aston Villa fans have reacted positively on Twitter following a report that the club have made a bid for Nottingham Forest’s Henri Lansbury.

The Birmingham Mail claim that Steve Bruce’s side have launched a bid of £3million, after Championship rivals Derby had a bid of £2.5million rejected for the 26-year-old.

Former Arsenal ace Lansbury could leave the two-time European Cup champions this month, as they sit in a lowly 20th place in the Championship, just two points off the relegation zone.

Villa’s rivals Birmingham City are also believed to have an interest in Forest’s number 10, but Bruce’s side have stolen a march in the race to sign Lansbury by lodging a formal offer.

Villa fans are delighted by the news on Twitter, with many believing the signing of the Forest skipper could be the missing cog in their team as they reach for the Championship play-offs.

The former England Under-21 international has been in great form for Forest this season, scoring six goals and supplying three assists in 17 league appearances.

But, after almost five years at Forest, Lansbury could be tempted to jump ship with Villa looking to add a creative edge to their midfield.

In other Aston Villa transfer news, Bruce has reportedly clinched a £2million deal with a Premier League club.
