Aston Villa fans react on Twitter to devastating Kodjia injury blow
By Matt Farr
Jonathan Kodjia could miss the start of next season after suffering a broken ankle in the defeat to Blackburn on Saturday – and Aston Villa fans are concerned.
A statement was released on the club’s official website on Tuesday confirming the extent of the injury, which could be a devastating blow to the club’s preparations for the new campaign.
It was revealed that the 27-year-old Aston Villa star is set to visit a specialist in Europe this week to undergo further tests, and will likely require surgery on his ankle.
Kodjia has been in prolific goalscoring form for the club this season, netting 19 goals from 40 Championship games, but his season has been brought to an abrupt end with one game still to play.
However, Aston Villa fans are more concerned about the potential absence of the Ivory Coast international at the start of next season, with the club looking to lay down an early marker in the Championship promotion race.

That's what you get for playing your best players in a pointless end of season game ????

On a more positive note, however, Kodjia’s injury status over the course of the summer may boost Aston Villa’s chances of fending off interest from other clubs.
Their rivals may be reluctant to move for a player facing a lengthy injury lay-off in case of a setback in his recovery, despite his excellent form this season, and that could play into Aston Villa’s favour.
