Aston Villa fans react on Twitter to new midfielder signing

By Will Butcher

Henri Lansbury has officially completed a move to Aston Villa from Championship rivals Nottingham Forest – and fans are over the moon on Twitter.

The 26-year-old has finally put pen to paper at Villa Park over a deal believed to be worth £2.75million, and could now make his debut against Preston on Saturday.

Villa confirmed the signing of the former Nottingham Forest captain on their official Twitter account, as Lansbury becomes the second January signing after goalkeeper Sam Johnstone.

Lansbury has been a rare shining light in a Forest side that have struggled in the Championship this season, scoring six goals in 19 matches as his former side sit in 20th place.

Aston Villa fans have reacted on Twitter with delight, and are now expecting their side to push on with the signing of Barnsley’s Conor Hourihane as well as a striker.

Lansbury trained with the Midlands giants this morning ahead of confirming a move to the relegated Premier League side, and is now in contention to start against Preston.

The former Arsenal youth player’s debut could inspire Villa to three points as they look to put a run of three straight defeats behind them.
