Aston Villa fans react on Twitter to Xia transfer update

Aston Villa owner Dr Tony Xia has revealed that the club have already made major progress in the transfer market this week – and fans on Twitter are delighted.

The transfer window has been open for less than 48 hours, but Xia claims that the club are already in negotiations to seal at least four different transfers.

Aston Villa are currently 10th in the Championship, just six points behind the play-offs, and Steve Bruce is expected to make several new additions to boost their promotion chances.

Fans are relishing the prospect of Villa’s activity in the transfer market, with one fan on Twitter taking it upon to himself to press the Villa owner about the club’s transfer business.

Twitter user @adpage87 asked Xia when the club would be announcing their first signing, to which the Villa chief gave a response that has delighted the Villa faithful.

He revealed that the club had agreed one loan signing, while one loan and at least two permanent transfers were in negotiations.

The exact details of the potential transfers remain unknown, but it has not stopped fans from trying to fill in the blanks over the potential newcomers, while they also praised the chairman’s openness and desire to get things done.

At least one of the newcomers is likely to be a striker, with Jonathan Kodjia and Jordan Ayew both set to miss the next month as they travel to the Africa Cup of Nations.

Rudy Gestede, meanwhile, is nearing a move to Middlesbrough, according to the Mail.

Aston Villa could well finalise one of these deals in the next few days, and fans will continue to wait in anticipation as to whom it might be.
