Aston Villa convinced sensational January attacker transfer can be sealed - report

Ross McCormack could be set for a sensational return to Fulham just six months after quitting for Aston Villa, according to a report.
Sports site Bleacher Report claim Villa are convinced they can seal a deal for McCormack to re-sign for the west London club.
It is said that Fulham manager Slavisa Jokanovic is “open to the idea of taking back” the 30-year-old striker, but “it is not a top priority”.
The main stumbling block is likely to be the wages of McCormack, who would have been given a salary hike when he made the £12million switch to Villa Park in July and signed a contract that has three-and-a-half years to still run.
Bleacher Report quote sources as close to the situation as saying Steve Bruce does not regard McCormack as central to his plans.

The Scotland international has had a disappointing campaign for Villa, scoring just three goals in 20 Championship matches, a far cry from the prolific form he consistently displayed for former clubs Fulham and Leeds.
It would be remarkable were he to return to Fulham given how he pushed to an exit from the west London club for successive transfer windows before getting his wish last summer.
Football Insider verdict:
Good business or an embarrassment of the highest order? Logic would veer towards the latter if Villa make a significant loss on McCormack to the very same club they shelled out a then Championship record for just six months earlier. Owner Tony Xia promised an end to the hapless transfer dealings of the previous regime when he took charge last summer, but being outmanoeuvred by Fulham would suggest the lessons of the past have not been learned. Nevertheless, Bruce appears to have been given the kind of power in the market his predecessors would have died for. And McCormack is certainly not to his taste. It appears inevitable that the Scot will exit this month.
