Aston Villa are waiting anxiously after making approaches for a trio of Premier League players, according to a report.
The Mirror claimed on their live transfer blog on Saturday [01:55pm] that Villa have approached Manchester United with an enquiry to sign defender Axel Tuanzebe on loan, but are yet to receive a response from Jose Mourinho, who is eager to see the Belgian centre-back earn senior football experience.
It is understood that the Championship promotion hopefuls are also waiting to hear back from Leicester after they contacted them over Leonardo Ulloa and defensive midfielder Daniel Amartey.
Argentine powerhouse Ulloa has made just six appearances in all competitions for Leicester this season.
The Premier League title-winning striker, known for his physical strength, appears to be well down the pecking order at the King Power and could be seen by Steve Bruce as the perfect solution to his striker crisis at Villa Park.
Football Insider verdict
Bruce looks like he is going to try and use the loan market to strengthen his squad this season. A triple swoop for Tuanzebe, Amartey and Ulloa would be fantastic business, even if he can only get them on a temporary basis. The trio of players could really bolster the spine of Bruce’s side ahead of the second half of the season in order to press on with a promotion push. Ulloa would perhaps be the most important player they need right now. With Jonathan Kodjia out for a long time and poor form from the other strikers at Villa Park, a centre-forward has to be of the highest priority.
In other Aston Villa news, Villa have terminated the loan deal for this goalkeeper.
