Kieran Maguire: Aston Villa have 'massive opportunity' as Las Vegas masterplan emerges
The US football market is largely untapped and Wes Edens can use that to the advantage of Aston Villa.
That is the view of finance boffin Kieran Maguire, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the benefits that a multi-club model may bring to Villa.
Sportico reported on 13 August that Edens is interested in forming an MLS team in Las Vegas.
The Villa co-owner also owns NFL side Milwaukee Bucks and is expected to push hard to bring the MLS to Nevada.
Maguire claims that Villa can plug into the US market and use a Vegas-based club to recruit emerging talent.
He told Football Insider correspondent Adam Williams: “The US is a market which, to a certain extent, is untapped from a football perspective.

“There is a lot of potential interest in Las Vegas. That gives you a massive opportunity to identify talent there.
“You can then bring players through the academy and look to bring them to Villa further down the line.
“The multi-club model in a post-Brexit environment is one which will generate more and more interest from clubs.
“This, of course, is not linked to Europe at all. But there is huge US interest in football at school level because it’s a cheaper sport to play.
“There is less potential litigation compared to American football and it is generally a more equitable sport as well.
“So there is certainly a market there, especially with the World Cup coming soon. You can see it from Wes Edens’ point of view.”
