Aston Villa ace delivers strong verdict on Tottenham ahead of FA Cup clash

By Harvey Byrne

Aston Villa midfielder Leandro Bacuna has stated that Tottenham are “one of the best teams in the country” ahead of Sunday’s FA Cup clash.

The Championship giants have been drawn as the away side in the cup third round with Villa preparing to travel to White Hart Lane.

It is a clash which sees the 12th placed second tier side take on Spurs, who are currently nestled in third in the Premier League table.

Bacuna believes his team are in for a tough task and has hailed the north Londoners as one of the top teams in England.

“This season we have Tottenham away and it’s a very difficult game,” told Bacuna to the official Aston Villa website.

“They are right in form, as they showed by their win against Chelsea – and they have some very good players.

“We have worked hard all week. We will go with a game plan. We must stick to that and look to get the result.

“The No.1 thing for me is that we go there and enjoy the occasion.

“We are on TV. We will have a big following. We are very determined and focused. But let’s also play with a smile on our faces.”

The Curacao international is also quoted at the top of the article as saying this about Tottenham: “Undoubtedly one of the best teams in the country”.

Tottenham are going into the clash as huge favourites at home against Steve Bruce’s side.

However, Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino is also expected to ring the changes after the midweek 2-0 victory against league leaders Chelsea.

Villa have had two days extra to recover after their defeat to Cardiff on Monday and they will see that as an advantage going into the clash.

The two English giants last met in March, which saw a Harry Kane double provide a 2-0 victory for Pochettino’s outfit.
