When asked by Football Insider if it was a risk handing a 20-year-old such a lucrative deal, Campbell said: “There is no danger and let me tell you why.
“He has the talent and is doing the business. Pay the young man! If Aston Villa don’t pay him somebody else will. It is as simple as that.
“All of this talk about, ‘Is he too young…’ A career is short. You have to maximise while you can.
“Ramsey is a really good young player. I really rate him, I really do.
“That is a no-brainer for Villa. Ramsey has been one of their best players this season. He will definitely win their young player of the year. He’s been incredible.”
Ramsey has established himself as a regular starter for Steven Gerrard’s side this season.
He has contributed six goals and one assist in 30 Premier League appearances.
