Aston Villa news: Expert makes 'brilliant' Boubacar Kamara prediction after confirmed news - 'I love that'

Noel Whelan has insisted Aston Villa will be in the mix for European football next season after completing the early signings of Philippe Coutinho and Boubacar Kamara.

The former Leeds striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted he “loves” Villa’s no-nonsense approach in the transfer market.

Aston Villa confirmed the signing of French midfielder Kamara on Monday (23 May) just days after turning Coutinho’s loan deal permanent for a reported £17.2million.

Steven Gerrard’s side are expected to continue their spending spree as they look to improve on this season’s 14th-place finish.

An Aston Villa source told Football Insider in April that the Midlands side are set for a “huge” spending spree in the coming months as they look to back Gerrard in his first summer window at the club.

This site understands owners Wes Edens and Nassef Sawiris will likely bankroll over £150m worth of new signings.

Whelan insisted Villa “aren’t messing about” ahead of a potentially hectic summer.

“Getting business done early is imperative,” he told Football Insider‘s Ewan Kingsbury.

“Aston Villa get it right all the time with transfers. They don’t mess about – this is literally hours after the end of the season.

“Steven Gerrard has identified who he wants. The board and the backroom staff are going all out to try and make that happen.

“The money is down on the table without any messing about or newspaper reports. I love that about Aston Villa. It’s brilliant.

“He’s a player who has been admired by many top European clubs as well and he will improve them no end.

“They could be challenging for the Europa League next season if they continue to make moves like this.”
