Aston Villa news: Matty Cash among top earners as new contract details emerge - Agbonlahor
Matty Cash will now be among the biggest earners at Aston Villa, according to Gabby Agbonlahor.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Aston Villa's record Premier League goalscorer delivered his verdict after Cash signed a new long-term deal with the club.
Aston Villa confirmed on Monday (4 April) the right-back, 24, had agreed a new contract the length of which was not disclosed.
Cash revealed on Twitter the same day he had committed the next "five years" of his career to the Midlands giants.
Football Insider reported last month (21 March) that Aston Villa were preparing a bumper offer for Cash after Atletico Madrid had sent scouts to track his progress.
"A new contract is fully deserved, 100 per cent," Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.
"You look at the wages some of the players are getting, Matty Cash has come in on the Championship on good money but compared to his teammates it will have been a lot less.
"Villa have rewarded his performances and put him up with some of the better earners in that squad. He deserves it.
"After watching Atletico Madrid against Man City, I bet he's happy he's signed on at Aston Villa and not for them.
"He likes to be an attacking full-back, they don't play that game there."
Cash has scored three times and provided six assists in 61 games for Villa since his move from Nottingham Forest in the summer of 2020.
The English-born Poland international won the club's player of the month award for March 2022.
