Aston Villa news: Matty Cash tipped to sign contract after Spanish source's Atletico Madrid update - pundit
Gabby Agbonlahor has tipped Matty Cash to sign a new contract with Aston Villa in the summer.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Aston Villa’s record Premier League goalscorer insisted the club will be “calm” about Cash’s situation with his current deal set to expire in the summer of 2025.
Football Insider reported on Monday (21 March) the Midlands giants are preparing a bumper new deal for the 24-year-old amid interest from Atletico Madrid.
A Spanish source told this site that scouts of the La Liga champions are making regular checks on Cash.
Atletico are in the market for a new right-back after Kieran Trippier left for Newcastle United in the January transfer window.
Asked for his verdict on Cash’s future, Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “Aston Villa will be quite calm about the situation.

“He’s still got a decent length left on his contract and he’s doing very well at the moment.
“There will be other players who will interest other clubs but I’m sure Matty Cash is enjoying his football at Aston Villa.
“He’s under contract and Aston Villa will look at his performances between now and the end of the season and then look to tie him down at the end of the season.”
Cash has been an ever-present in the Premier League this season and now has 59 Villa appearances across all competitions.
The English-born ace made his Poland debut in November last year (2021) and won his third cap in the 1-0 win over Scotland on Thursday night (24 March).
