Aston Villa are working on a deal to sign Fulham’s Harry Wilson on a free transfer, sources have told Football Insider.

Early talks have taken place with the 29-year-old winger’s representatives ahead of his contract expiring at the end of June.

The Wales international has elected to leave Craven Cottage at the end of the season after rejecting multiple contract extension offers.

Wilson has been outstanding for Fulham so far this season, and has netted 10 goals and picked up six assists in the Premier League to date.

Now, the attacker’s four-year career at the Cottagers could come to an end, with Aston Villa eyeing an audacious move.

How good is Harry Wilson?

Wilson has been one of the best players in the Premier League this season.

Fulham could still qualify for European football, and much of this is thanks to the winger’s brilliance.

According to Fotmob on 25 April, Wilson is averaging 0.35 goals, 0.20 xG, 2.59 shots, 0.21 assists, a 0.16 xA and 1.21 chances created per 90 minutes in the Premier League.

For a player who is currently at a mid-table club, this is an extremely impressive feat, with the 29-year-old now truly in his prime.

It is also a massive improvement on the previous campaign, where Wilson only managed to score six goals and provide 1 assist in the entire Premier League season.

As a result, there is every chance Wilson will improve further if Villa elects to bring him into the club in the summer.

Former Manchester United scout Mick Brown has backed Aston Villa to sign Curtis Jones when exclusively talking to Football Insider.

The Liverpool midfielder has been linked to the Birmingham outfit in recent weeks amid reports that the 25-year-old could be allowed to leave Anfield in the summer.

Jones has also attracted interest from a number of clubs across Europe, including Inter Milan, who had considered a move during the January transfer window.

The midfielder has played in 29 Premier League games for Liverpool this season, but has only started in 13 of them, as he continues to struggle to break into the first team.

However, it remains to be seen if Villa are able to complete the signing of the England international over the coming months.
