Aston Villa plan to sign another attacking star - sources

Aston Villa want to sign another attacking player before the summer window shuts, sources have told Football Insider.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that the club's forward overhaul depends on whether Jhon Duran departs Villa Park.

The 20-year-old forward has been monitored by both Chelsea and West Ham this summer, and is said to be unhappy with the amount of football he’s played since joining Villa.

Sources say that Unai Emery wants to add another attacker this summer in addition to incoming Jaden Philogene, and the club are assessing the market for both wide forwards and central strikers.

Villa are preparing for life in the Champions League next season; therefore adding further quality will be necessary to compete on all fronts.

Aston Villa have a long-term interest in Nico Williams

Football Insider revealed Nico Williams is one player that the Premier League club are interested in.

The winger impressed during the 2024 Euros, playing a crucial role in Spain winning the competition with two goals and one assist.

Even though Villa have been monitoring Williams for a long time, the deal is said to be out of their reach due to how many top clubs are interested in the 22-year-old.

Barcelona are leading the race to sign Williams, but Football Insider revealed that Liverpool could attempt to hijack that transfer.

Emery’s goal for the summer is to strengthen his existing squad and make them even stronger for next season.

One attacker who is expected to be joining the club is Jayden Philogene, as Football Insider revealed a deal has been agreed for the 22-year-old to re-join Villa this summer.
