Jacob Bedeau has expressed his delight on Twitter after he joined Aston Villa on deadline day.

The club confirmed on its official website on Monday afternoon that the 17-year-old had joined from League One side Bury.

It is said the highly-rated defender has signed a two-and-a-half-year deal with the Championship club.

During his time at Gigg Lane, Bedeau made seven appearances in all competitions.

After agreeing a switch, Bedeau posted this message on his personal Twitter account to supporters.

“Delighted to have joined Aston Villa,” said Bedeau. “Can’t wait to get started at this great club. The hard work continues.”

The youngster will more than likely join Villa’s development squad as there are three senior centre-backs already ahead of him the pecking order.

Captain James Chester and academy product Nathan Baker are the regular centre-halves under Bruce.

Summer signing Tommy Elphick is the backup to the duo, having been the first choice under Bruce’s predecessor, Roberto Di Matteo.

Nonetheless, Bedeau will be looking to earn his way through the ranks and follow in the footsteps of the likes of Jack Grealish and Andre Green.

Teenager Green, who is a versatile attacker, has been given a number of first-team opportunities in recent weeks after impressing his manager.
