Footballer Insider rated the Aston Villa players out of ten after their 1-0 defeat against Norwich at Carrow Road on Tuesday night.

Pierluigi Gollini 3 – The 21-year-old was unable to hold onto a simple long-range effort in the first-half, but thankfully he redeemed himself by producing a great reaction save. But, he is still showing a lack of confidence in goal and needs to be sold in January. He stood still while Alex Neil’s side opened the scoring after the break.

Alan Hutton 6 – He was solid in attack and defence. But after the break the right-back did produce some sloppy passes, despite his non-stop effort throughout the game.

Tommy Elphick 4 – He did a fairly decent job, but he could have done more to lead from the backline considering he was wearing the captain’s armband. Additionally, Elphick should have closed down Nelson Oliveira for Norwich’s opening goal.

James Chester 6 – Another solid display from the centre-back, who is quickly becoming one of Villa’s most important players.

Jordan Amavi 6 – Produced a brilliant battle with Norwich wide man Jacob Murphy. The left-back kept his composure, but could have done more when attacking.

Ashley Westwood 4 – The midfielder failed to contribute in attack or defence. It is becoming quite baffling as to why Bruce keeps selecting the 26-year-old.

Mile Jedinak 6 – He put his body on the line in the first-half, but could have done more to prevent Norwich’s opening goal going in.

Jordan Ayew 4 – Once again another poor display from the versatile attacker, who is not contributing enough to the team.

Jack Grealish 5 – He had a quiet second-half and as a result was substituted in the 72nd minute. But every time the playmaker got on the ball he ran at the defence, but needs a better end product.

Jonathan Kodjia 5 – Away from home Kodjia looks a different player. He has not scored a goal on the road since October and he was poor once again against Norwich.

Gabby Agbonlahor 2 – Substituted after 72 minutes by Bruce. The 30-year-old was non-existent, failed to cause any threat and seemed to be at Carrow Road for a fitness workout. The decision to select him is baffling.
