Aston Villa midfielder Jake Doyle-Hayes is set to quit the club within days, Football Insider can reveal.

The Villa academy product is out of contract at the end of this month but has yet to be offered a new deal.

A Villa source has told Football Insider that Doyle-Hayes has been told he is being released and has started looking for a new team.

His contract with the Premier League club is due to expire on 30 June.

It is a major blow for the versatile midfielder, who graduated from the youth ranks at Villa to become a professional.

Capped by Republic of Ireland at Under-21 level, Doyle-Hayes has made three appearances for the first team.

He has also accumulated significant senior experience over the last 18 months in two separate loan spells.

He spent the second half of last season on loan at Cambridge United and the entirety of this campaign playing for Cheltenham in League Two.

The Irishman has made a big impact in the fourth tier, having played in three-quarters of Cheltenham's available game time.

Operating mainly in central midfield, he made 28 league starts among 34 appearances in all competitions.

He scored once and assisted six times before the season was prematurely halted.

Doyle-Hayes had an instant impact and was awarded the League Two Player of the Month award in August during his first month of loan duty at the club.
