Sources: Aston Villa sensation Carney Chukwuemeka wants extraordinary £100,000-a-week deal

Aston Villa sensation Carney Chukwuemeka is holding out for a new contract worth £100,000-a-week, sources have told Football Insider

The 18-year-old’s extraordinary demands can be revealed after he snubbed Villa’s latest contract offer and was left out of the squad for their pre-season Australia tour.

Chukwuemeka is attracting the interest of Europe’s elite – Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain are the latest clubs to be linked – now he has entered the last year of his current deal.

The England Under-19 sensation’s representatives have told Villa they want a contract that reflects his huge potential and that is around the £100,000-a-week mark.

It is a figure normally reserved for established Premier League stars, not a teenager with only two Premier League starts and just 16 first-team appearances.

Chukwuemeka is in a strong negotiating position as he could quit for a move abroad next year for a development fee of just £300,000.

That would mean Villa missing out on a hefty payday for the youngster, who won the European Championships with England’s Under-19s recently and was named in Uefa’s team of the tournament.

The Midlands giants value Chukwuemeka at the £20million mark but could be forced to accept a cut-price offer from an English club to avoid him heading overseas next year for a six-figure sum.

He has rejected the club’s contract overtures so far and the stand-off now extends to more than six months.

Villa reacted by omitting Chukwuemeka from their pre-season tour after granting him extra time off following his England heroics.

Manager Steven Gerrard did select both Tim Iroegbunam and Aaron Ramsey, who starred alongside the contract rebel for England Under-19s.
