Paul Robinson is stunned by the immediate impact of Steven Gerrard at Aston Villa.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Premier League goalkeeper even compared his former England teammate, Gerrard, to Spurs boss Antonio Conte.

Gerrard got off to a winning start at Villa Park with a 2-0 victory over Brighton on Saturday.

The stats show a stark improvement under Gerrard - Villa had the fifth lowest press under Dean Smith, while Brighton are ranked fifth in the division.

When asked by Football Insider's Dylan Childs for his assessment of the stats, Robinson said: "Wow, that's a real impact in a short space of time.

"Steven will demand certain things from different players. He did that at Rangers and he did that as a player.

"He put a lot of demands of himself and he demands a lot from the dressing room around him. If you do not meet those demands, Steven is very quick to tell you. He is a winner and a leader and he will install that into his players.

"In that sense, he is similar to Antonio Conte. He hasn't quite got the reputation or the expertise yet but his management technique will be very similar.

"If you don't work tirelessly and buy into what he wants, you won't be there very long."
