Aston Villa have completed the deadline-day signing of Brentford striker Scott Hogan, according to a report.
The Birmingham Mail claim in their transfer blog on Tuesday afternoon (14:54 pm) that they are being told Hogan is a “done deal”.
It is said that the 24-year-old has signed a long-term contract with the Midlands side and will be in the stands at Griffin Park when Villa take on his former team on Tuesday night.
Hogan has scored 14 goals for the Bees this season as he is set to swap the London-based club for the Midlands outfit.
He will be looking to build a partnership with Villa’s star man Jonathan Kodjia who has scored nine goals this term.
The former non-league player is set to become the club’s sixth signing this month and fifth permanent addition.
Football Insider verdict:
Villa have had a successful January window and one that will help them push up the Championship table in their bid to finish in the top six come the end of the campaign. The purchase of Hogan puts him straight alongside Kodjia in the starting line-up because there is no other better strike force currently at the club. Jordan Ayew is set to make a move to the Premier League, Gabby Agbonlahor has not scored all season and Ross McCormack is unfit. This leaves a huge weight on the shoulders of Hogan and Kodjia but between them this term they have notched up 23 goals. If they can continue that run then Bruce’s side will have more of a chance of claiming a promotion spot come the end of the campaign.
