Aston Villa tipped to seal 'brilliant' deal for star loved by Gerrard after £25m Sosa update - pundit
Steven Gerrard could complete a “brilliant” deal for left-back Borna Sosa now that he has a larger transfer budget at Aston Villa, according to Kevin Campbell.
The former Arsenal striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed the 23-year-old could have been on Gerrard’s radar at Rangers.
According to Bild (November 22nd), Aston Villa are targeting a £25million move for VfB Stuttgart left-back Sosa.
The report suggests a bid of £25m would prise him away from the German club.
The former Dinamo Zagreb man’s contract expires in 2025.
Aston Villa’s current options on the left side of defence include Matt Targett and Ashley Young.

Sosa has registered four assists and one goal across 14 appearances in all competitions this season.
The five-cap Croatia international has started every Bundesliga game for Stuttgart this season.
Campbell insisted the full-back has a “really good record”.
“I’m sure he’ll be a brilliant player for Villa,” he told Football Insider.
“An assist every four games is a really good record for a full-back.
“I don’t profess to know a lot about him but I’m sure he will have been on Steven Gerrard’s radar at Rangers but that transfer fee was probably well out of reach there.
“Now he’s at Villa he can probably think about bringing him in for that sort of money – because he’s certainly someone who Gerrard likes.”
Sosa has participated in 19% of Stuttgart’s Bundesliga goals this season.
The left-back made his Croatia debut against Russia in September.
