Aston Villa tipped to sign Leon Bailey replacement after source's update - 'something is going on,' says expert

Alan Hutton has suggested Ismaila Sarr could replace Leon Bailey at Aston Villa.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Tottenham and Aston Villa defender insisted “something is going on behind the scenes” at Villa Park.

In the summer (22 August), Sky Sports reported that Villa has agreed a £25million fee for the 24-year-old but the deal ultimately collapsed.

Last month (10 November), sources told this site that Unai Emery’s top transfer priority is an A-list forward who could play anywhere along the front line.

The winger has just over 18 months left on his contract at Watford.

Although Sarr was initially a target under Steven Gerrard, Hutton suggested the Senegal international could fit into Emery’s side.

I do not think it will be off the table,” he told Football Insider.

He went to the World Cup and he has produced on the highest stage. It is something they will probably be monitoring and looking at.

Transfer fee, they will have to wait and see but I think he gives you that explosiveness, that pace that I think Leon Bailey can’t give you at times in games. It is another option.

I think Aston Villa have got a lot of attacking threat so whether they will try and ship somebody out first before they get another attacker in we will wait and see. But there is obviously something going on behind the scenes.
