Aston Villa to match Chelsea after Jaden Philogene-Bidace agreement - Agbonlahor
Gabby Agbonlahor has backed Jaden Philogene-Bidace to show what he can do at Cardiff in order to return to a first-team role at Aston Villa.
The former Claret and Blue striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed the 20-year-old’s temporary exit could turn him into an “asset” for Steven Gerrard’s side.
Aston Villa confirmed on Wednesday (27 July) that Philogene-Bidace had penned a new contract before joining Cardiff City on loan.
The winger made four appearances for Villa’s senior side last term but spent the second half of the campaign on loan at Championship side Stoke City.
Capped at England Under-20 level, Philogene-Bidace has an impressive record at youth level – scoring 22 goals in 42 games for Villa’s Under-18 and Under-23 sides.
Agbonlahor suggested his former side are now looking to transform their starlets into “assets”.

He cited Chelsea – who have received big-money fees for the likes of Marc Guehi, Tammy Abraham, and Fikayo Tomori in recent years.
“He [Philogene-Bidace] wants to play football but he also wants to commit himself to Aston Villa,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider‘s Ewan Kingsbury.
“He’s now got to go out and prove he can play first-team football, and that’s all you can do. He’ll go to Cardiff and show what he can do.
“You always want to hold on to your young talent. I feel like football has changed a lot. Maybe previously at Aston Villa these sorts of youngsters would have been let go.
“But now they’re seeing them more as assets that can keep improving and keep increasing that value.
“Chelsea have done it for years with so many young players.”
