Aston Villa could secure the services of Ajax defender Kenneth Taylor with a £30million bid, sources have told Football Insider.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that it will be “more than just Aston Villa who’ll be looking at him.”

Taylor is being seen as an ideal option for the Premier League outfit, but well-placed sources have told Football Insider that Ajax aren’t keen on letting him leave.

The 22-year-old has two years left on his deal at Ajax, which is why it would cost around £30million to try and lure him away from the Dutch giants.

Taylor has established himself as a regular in the Ajax side, having made 21 appearances this season in all competitions where he’s scored six goals and provided four assists.

Aston Villa want to secure defensive reinforcements

Emery is keen to bring in new defenders in January as he wants to add further quality to give his team the best opportunity to try and secure Champions League football.

The Premier League side could also allow several fringe players to leave Villa Park in January to help facilitate the situation.

Aston Villa

Villa have conceded 19 goals in the opening 12 Premier League fixtures, which is the worst record in the top half of the table.

Emery’s side will be back in action on Wednesday (27 November) against Juventus in the Champions League.
