Aston Villa and Arsenal's negotiations over Morgan Rogers' potential transfer are set to 'drag on' for the time being, sources have told Football Insider.

Rogers has emerged as one of the most in-demand forwards in world football after his consistently impressive showings for Villa over the last few seasons.

Arsenal have made his signature their top priority in the summer window, while Chelsea are closely monitoring his situation and Man City remain keen on re-signing their former academy star.

Villa do not want to lose Rogers, however, especially as they prepare to return to the Champions League next season.

As I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider's Transfer Insider podcast, the England star is not set for an imminent move to the Emirates Stadium due to disagreements over his price tag.

Arsenal have emerged as the front runners for his signature after their Premier League title glory, but Villa want well over £100million for his services.

The 23-year-old is reportedly keen on moving to the North London club, but could seal a move late on in the summer window.

Arsenal made to wait for Morgan Rogers agreement as Villa dig in their heels

Rogers has been ousted from the England side by Jude Bellingham, despite registering 25 goal contributions in 55 games last season.

Villa are not set to be pressured into a sale by the Gunners, given his contract length and the fact they are not constrained by Premier League or UEFA financial rules.

Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, I explained: "Villa will be hoping it will deter those clubs interested in Morgan Rogers, it's probably going to be one of the biggest stories of the summer and it looks like it could drag on as well because of the price tag and everything that's involved in a potential move.

"Villa are in a strong position here. He will only leave probably under their terms because he's under contract until 2031."

Aston Villa set sights on James Maddison as Tottenham make transfer decision - source

James Maddison eyed by Villa amid Rogers uncertainty

Rogers' departure would leave a huge gap in Unai Emery's squad that would need filling by a definite starter.

Sources have exclusively revealed to Football Insider that Spurs star Maddison is on Villa's radar as it stands after an injury-hit 2025-26 campaign.

He played three times at the end of last season after recovering from an ACL tear, and could be pushed down the pecking order at Tottenham this summer.

Spurs would seemingly be open to a sale for the right price, with Maddison set to turn 30 midway through next season, while he has just two years left on his contract.
