Aston Villa: Emiliano Martinez ready for 'one last adventure', Unai Emery expected to keep promise
Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez is being linked with a move to Juventus in the upcoming transfer window.
The Argentina international is said to be in contact with his agents regarding an update on his future as he focuses on the 2026 World Cup campaign.
It is claimed that there is "mutual flirtation" between the Bianconeri and the 33-year-old shot-stopper, with Birmingham "no longer his home".
Martinez is reportedly poised to go on "one last great adventure" at a big European club after missing out on a move to Manchester United last summer.
It's being claimed that a meeting between Juventus and Martinez's representatives has been scheduled to discuss the feasibility of the move.
The Bianconeri aren't willing to get involved in a transfer tug-of-war and will make it clear to the goalkeeper's entourage that they want to get a deal over the line soon.
Emiliano Martinez expects Unai Emery to keep his word at Aston Villa
Martinez was a key player for Villa in the 2025-26 campaign, playing a pivotal role in winning the Europa League title.
The World Cup-winner made 44 appearances in all competitions for the Villans and kept 14 clean sheets as they finished fourth in the Premier League.
According to Tuttosport on 8 June, Emery assured Martinez that he would be allowed to leave if he stayed at Villa Park last summer, and the shot-stopper now expects the Spanish manager to fulfil that commitment.
The Lions want around £17million for the Argentine ace, but Juventus also have David de Gea and Tottenham Hotspur's Guglielmo Vicario on their shortlist.
Villa Park hierarchy already have Emiliano Martinez replacement set
Sources told Football Insider at the start of May that Villa were going to step up their pursuit of James Trafford amid fears of Martinez's possible exit in the summer.
The Manchester City shot-stopper has shown immense potential over the last few years, but his game time at the Etihad Stadium has been affected by Gianluigi Donnarumma's arrival.
Trafford, 23, seems to have been earmarked to replace Martinez at Villa Park, but it remains to be seen how the two goalkeepers' situations unfold in the coming weeks.
