Nottingham Forest tipped to make Tammy Abraham move by Aston Villa expert

Tammy Abraham could be a target for Nottingham Forest this summer as Aston Villa prepare to cut their losses.

That is according to former senior Villa scout, Bryan King, speaking exclusively to Football Insider.

The 28-year-old only arrived in January from Besiktas, joining in an £18.25million deal that saw him reunited with the club he spent the 2018-19 season on loan at.

However, Villa are already said to be willing to let Abraham go this summer after scored just three goals in 16 appearances in the second half of the campaign.

The emergence of Brian Madjo, the 17-year-old who looked dominant against PSG and became the youngest UEFA Super Cup scorer ever on Wednesday, has only made a route to minutes more unclear for Abraham.

Nottingham Forest have been frequently linked with strikers this summer and appear to be looking for a new front man, although the futures of Arnaud Kalimuendo and Taiwo Awoniyi are yet to be addressed.

For many involved in the deal to bring Abraham back to Villa in January, the romance of the move may have clouded the judgement.

The striker went on loan to Villa Park in 2018 as he was first attempting to break through for Chelsea, and he was sensational.

The Englishman scored 25 goals in 37 Championship games for Villa and featured as they won the play-offs to return to the Premier League.

The newly-promoted club were desperate to keep Abraham but could not, with the move finally happening six years later. It has not worked out how many hoped, however.

"If they'd have bought him from Roma, I'd have been terribly disappointed. But they got him from Turkey, and to be honest, it started brightly, but it has not worked out," King told Football Insider.

"So for me, I'd say it was time to move on. Mistakes have been made. I think he could move on, and if he did, would he be a player that could also interest Nottingham Forest.

"Because I can't see him getting into a top club, not in London anyway. And of course, he's started his career at Chelsea. Big prospect. But this move has not worked out, has it? 

"I think he could do a decent job. But, you know, he had the injury problems. Couldn't score a goal, could he? For love or money, really."

Incredibly, Madjo's goal against PSG on Wednesday was the first of his senior professional career, and he easily could have had a hattrick.

The 17-year-old was signed for £7million from Metz in January but has been unable to be used due to rules barring international transfers from appearing until the age of 18.

But the striker was born in London, despite appearing on the international stage for Luxembourg, and Villa won in the courts.

On his competitive debut, Madjo scored, missed three big chances and created two chances, bullying top-level international centre-backs in Marquinhos and Willian Pacho.

The teenager could well take many of Abraham's minutes this season, creating a path for his departure.
