Ollie Watkins' Aston Villa fairytale could be about to end amid Serhou Guirassy update
Ollie Watkins may not have done enough to save his future as Aston Villa's first-choice centre-forward.
The 30-year-old ended the 2025-26 campaign with 21 goals and five assists in all competitions, helping lead the Villans to a Europa League title.
However, it was not at all positive performances from the England international, who really struggled to make an impact in the first-half of the season.
Many supporters became concerned by his lack of goals, suggesting that the transfer interest from Arsenal last summer was playing on his mind or turned his head at Villa Park.
Aston Villa enter the race for Serhou Guirassy
He would eventually dust the cobwebs off his shooting boots and fire Unai Emery's side to success in the Premier League and Europe, but it may not have been enough.
With the striker now 30 years of age, the Villans could be debating finally cashing in on the centre-forward, and the latest transfer target would suggest exactly that.
According to Bild (4 June), Villa have reignited their interest in Borussia Dortmund star Serhou Guirassy, joining Fenerbahce in the race for his signature.
The 30-year-old racked up 26 goals and four assists in 51 games this season, but less than his 40 goal contributions during the 2024-25 campaign.
Could Unai Emery really lose Morgan Rogers as well?
Morgan Rogers is, arguably, Villa's most important player, so his future is being discussed far more than Watkins' right now.
It would appear that the Villans are resigned to losing their No.27, with countless teams across Europe already eyeing a move for him. Some might even criticise the club for not cashing in this summer.
That makes the need for more firepower even more pressing at Villa Park, and Guirassy could, therefore, be more of a replacement for Rogers.
Villa are running out of time to cash in on Watkins, though, and Guirassy could be available for much cheaper than in previous summers.
The Dortmund man is just as talented, though. With 50 goals across his last two seasons in Germany, he would be an incredible addition to Emery's squad.
