Aston Villa are reportedly interested in rising star Lamine Camara as they step up potential plans to replace John McGinn.

The 22-year-old has emerged as one of the hottest prospects in Ligue 1 after impressing for Monaco this season.

The midfielder helped the club qualify for the Conference League this campaign, as he played in 24 matches in the division.

Reportedly Villa are chasing the signature of Camara this summer, who is open to a move to the Premier League.

If all goes through, it is clear that Unai Emery is hoping the Senegal international can be McGinn’s successor, who has been continuously linked away from Villa Park.

Unai Emery is preparing for John McGinn’s departure

McGinn is no doubt a modern Villa legend and is still a highly important player to the squad.

However, the midfielder is set to turn 32 years old later this year and has been linked to numerous other clubs, such as Everton.

Therefore, it is clear that Camara is a potential successor for McGinn, with the Monaco star possessing excellent qualities in both attack and defence.

Media Foot on 2 June stated that Villa would have to pay up to £43.2million to get hold of the 22-year-old, but it is clear that he could improve and become an even bigger star.

If all goes through, Emery may even be prepared to let McGinn go this summer as he looks to improve the overall quality of his squad.

How much would Aston Villa demand for McGinn this summer?

Football Insider exclusively revealed that Villa have placed a £20m price tag on McGinn this summer transfer window.

The Midlands giants are braced for interest from Everton if the 31-year-old and view a sale at this price as good business if it helps them keep star man Morgan Rogers.

The sale of the Scottish international could boost their hopes of keeping Rogers, who is attracting plenty of interest at present thanks to his stellar 2025-26 season.

Now, Villa may have a decision to make whether to keep or sell their captain, who has been a massive servant to the club since his move from Hibernian back in 2018.

Nevertheless, it remains to be seen if Camara will be the successor for McGinn whenever he does elect to leave the club.
