Christos Tzolis sends clear message to Aston Villa as dazzling international stats revealed
Christos Tzolis has emerged as an Aston Villa transfer target in recent weeks.
Morgan Rogers’ potential exit has forced the Birmingham outfit to look at potential replacements, with the Club Brugge star emerging as a potential candidate.
The 24-year-old had a fantastic season in Belgium, where he netted 17 goals and picked up 23 assists in the league.
Now, Tzolis has proven that he can also perform against some of the best players in the world, as he picked up yet another assist in Greece’s 2-2 draw against Sweden on Thursday.
As a result, Villa have been sent a clear message by the winger as he looks to become the next big star.
Christos Tzolis was outstanding against Sweden
Tzolis has no doubt had one of the most eye-catching campaigns of the 2025-26 season. Picking up 40 goal contributions in 36 league matches is an outstanding feat, and one that should be applauded.
However, there have been questions on where the winger can replicate this in the Premier League, with many of the Belgian Pro League’s stars coming to England and struggling.
Yet, Tzolis proves these doubters wrong on Thursday as he dominated Sweden and showed Villa that he is more than capable of performing against top sides.
According to Fotmob on 5 June, the 24-year-old created the most chances at four, had five touches in the opposition box, had two shots, completed two dribbles and won 67 per cent of his ground duels.
This was despite coming up against a backline consisting of players from Atalanta, Borussia Dortmund and Braga.
Therefore, Villa should have look to make an approach before more teams become interested and they face a battle for his signature.
Who else are Aston Villa linked with?
Football Insider has exclusively revealed that Villa are chasing Manchester City's Omar Marmoush this summer.
The Birmingham outfit will have to pay £59million to bring the attacker to Villa Park, who has struggled for game time at the Etihad in recent months.
City are not planning on selling him, but would consider letting him go if they receive close to the amount they paid for him last year.
However, it remains to be seen if these plans have changed now that Pep Guardiola has left the club.
