Zion Suzuki 'is not staying for long' - Aston Villa fans explode after latest

Zion Suzuki was hugely impressive as Aston Villa beat Tottenham Hotspur 3-2 in North London on Saturday.

Johan Manzambi, Nicolas Jackson and Emiliano Buendia found the goals to hand the visitors their first Premier League win of the season, with Conor Gallagher and Jan Paul van Hecke finding late consolations to end the goal drought.

The Lilywhites ultimately left their response far too late in the game, with the Villans having already compounded the bad feeling at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Suzuki joined Villa from Parma in the summer, signing a long-term deal after a fee worth around £30million was agreed.

The Japan international was wanted by PSG and went close to joining the European champions, but wanted to be the number one.

He has been given that role at Villa and replaced the hugely experienced Emi Martinez, who joined Chelsea at the end of the window.

Zion Suzuki could be 'best in the world'

Tottenham came into this game having failed to score a single goal in the Premier League this season.

And on the balance of play in the first half, they should have ended that run early on. Unfortunately, they ran into Suzuki.

The goalkeeper seemed insurmountable in the first half, batting away shot after shot that rained down on his goal.

The Japan international would make four saves in the first half and five overall, keeping Villa in the game and allowing them to take the lead through Manzambi.

Fans watching the game were stunned by what they were seeing from Suzuki, who Villa ultimately faced very little competition for.

One fan wrote on social media that "Suzuki is not staying at Villa for long", such was the brilliance of his display.

"Zion Suzuki has the potential to be the best in the world someday," wrote another fan, while others chose to compare him to "prime Manuel Neuer".

Luke, on social media, wrote that the Villa goalkeeper is "one of the signings of the season".

How high is Suzuki's ceiling?

Suzuki has had nervous moments since starting his Villa career, and there are things that he must work on.

But it is easy to forget just how young he is. For a goalkeeper, 24 is no age at all, and he will be expected to have at least another decade at the top level.

With that in mind, the fact that Suzuki already appears to be well capable of not only playing, but standing out, at the Premier League level is hugely encouraging.

Villa will hope that the goalkeeper will continue to grow, with his potential truly endless.
