Aston Villa will hold out for much more than £50million to sell star man Douglas Luiz this summer, sources have told Football Insider.

The Midlands club are expected to be close to the PSR limit for next season after announcing losses of £119million in their latest 2022-23 accounts - and therefore risk a potential points deduction.

Luiz, 26, has attracted significant interest in recent windows, with Villa rebuffing approaches in the last 18 months.

It is believed Serie A giants Juventus have joined long-term suitors Arsenal in the race for the Brazil international.

Recent reports have suggested Villa could accept a bid as low as £50million for Luiz this summer.

However, a well-placed source has told Football Insider that Unai Emery's side will want "much more" for the star midfielder.

It is believed Luiz is happy at Villa Park and has Champions League football to look forward to next season, meaning an attractive offer will be needed to prise him away.

He made 53 appearances across all competitions in the 2023-24 campaign, starting in 49 of those outings.

The 26-year-old notched 10 goals and 10 assists - his best-ever return in senior football.

Luiz joined Villa from Man City in 2019 and is under contract with the Midlands giants until June 2026.
