'Awful', 'Absolute stinker' - Celtic fans tear into senior player for display v Partick

Celtic supporters have taken to social media to complain about the performance of Stuart Armstrong against Partick Thistle – even though he scored the opening goal of the game in the Bhoys’ 2-0 victory.

The 25-year-old senior player has struggled in recent games and this continued against the side bottom of the league until he scored a goal out of nothing to give the Scottish Premiership leaders the lead.

Armstrong made up for his slow start to the game with his excellent goal, but that hasn’t placated the mood of some fans, with one claiming that he has “had enough” of his performances.

As for the game itself, the hoops were finding the Jags extremely difficult to break down until Armstrong’s goal opened the scoring in the 35th minute.

Odsonne Edouard was denied by two saves by Tomas Cerney before an excellent Kieran Tierney goal in the 67th minute put the Celts 2-0 ahead.

Boyata and Griffiths both missed chances to make it 3-0 as Celtic returned to winning ways.

The victory sees the Hoops moves five points clear of Aberdeen at the top of the Scottish Premiership, with the teams meeting at Celtic Park in a top of the table clash at Celtic Park on Saturday.
