Arsenal attacker Willian was “awful” against Southampton in the FA Cup and Nicolas Pepe was not much better, according to Kevin Campbell.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Gunners striker fears the pair will struggle to find form anytime soon with game time hard to come by in the Premier League.
Neither have started in the league since the 2-1 loss at Everton in mid-December, due largely to the form of youngsters Emile Smith-Rowe and Bukayo Saka.
According to Spotrac, Willian and Pepe are two of the biggest earners at the Emirates, earning approximately £192,000 and £100,000-a-week respectively.
When asked by Football Insider for his thoughts on Arsenal’s FA Cup exit, Campbell said: “It was not a great performance at the weekend, it was not good enough.
“Willian was awful again and while Pepe was better in the second half when Saka and Partey came on, it has not been consistent enough.
“I do not know where they are going to find their form from because the way they are performing, they are not going to get their place back in the side.”
The Gunners travel to St. Mary’s again tonight and Mikel Arteta is expected to make a number of changes from the side that lost at the weekend.
However, he will have to make do once again without star striker and club captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang because of ‘personal family reasons’.
