Chelsea defender Axel Disasi will be going nowhere in the January transfer window, sources have told Football Insider.

The 26-year-old has been linked with an exit in the new year with Benfica's Tomas Araujo reportedly a target for the Blues.

However, sources have told Football Insider that Disasi is not set to be offered to other clubs in January with Enzo Maresca keen to keep his squad together.

The centre-back has featured sparingly in the Premier League this season - making just three appearances.

He has proved a versatile option for Maresca, filling in at right-back amid injuries to Reece James and Malo Gusto.

James and Wesley Fofana remain unavailable to the Italian and he, along with Chelsea chiefs, have decided to keep the squad intact for the second half of the season.

Chelsea star Disasi is not for sale in January

Disasi has played a valuable role for the Blues in Europe, starting every game of their Uefa Conference League campaign and captaining the side on two occasions.

He has made 55 appearances for Chelsea since joining from Monaco in August 2023.

The towering defender is under contract at Stamford Bridge until June 2029.

Tosin Adarabioyo and Benoit Badiashile have also been linked with moves away from Chelsea in the new year, but will also be kept with the west London club.

Maresca's side sit second in the Premier League table, four points behind Liverpool having played a game more than the Reds.
