'He was a good player at Spurs' - Newcastle fans react to reported interest in playmaker

Newcastle fans have taken to Twitter to urge their club to sign Hamburg ace Lewis Holtby.
Their messages came after the Mirror claimed on its live transfer blog on Friday [11:33AM] that the Toon were interested in signing the Bundesliga midfielder.
It was said that Bournemouth were also chasing the German ace who could potentially be available for around £5million.
Holtby was a mainstay in Hamburg’s engine room last term, providing six assists in 30 appearances across all competitions, and scoring one goal.
The 26-year-old playmaker spent a season on loan at the German outfit prior to joining the club permanently from Tottenham in the summer of 2015.

Overall, he has played 90 league and cup games for Hamburg, which have yielded 12 assists and four goals.
The St James’ Park faithful were excited by the prospect of their club signing the German midfielder, and they took to Twitter to show it, which one fan saying that “he was a good player at Spurs”.

Holtby has been capped by Germany on three occasions, but he has not featured since the 0-0 friendly draw with the Netherlands way back in 2012.
Newcastle manager Rafa Benitez is looking to strengthen his squad this summer as his side prepare for life in the Premier League, and he may see the 26-year-old as a potential midfield reinforcement.
