Bamford tipped to be out for a month in 'huge' Leeds blow after what Whelan has seen
Noel Whelan has tipped Patrick Bamford to miss up to four weeks for Leeds United with the injury sustained against Chelsea.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Whites forward, who was at the game working for BBC Radio Leeds, said the injury to the star goalscorer “did not look good”.
Bamford was replaced by Rodrigo Moreno in the first half at Elland Road after he landed awkwardly from an aerial challenge with Chelsea’s Antonio Rudiger.
The centre-forward has been one of Marcelo Bielsa’s side’s standout performers this season, with his 28 league appearances yielding 13 goals and six assists.
Leeds travel to Fulham on Friday and it is yet known whether Bamford will be available.
When asked for his first-hand account of the injury, Whelan told Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs: “It did not look good to me.

“I think the minimum he will be out for is three weeks, maybe even four. We are all eagerly awaiting the outcome of the scan.
“We do not have a like-for-like striker who can play the role of Bamford. Roberts and Rodrigo are completely different in their style of play so Bamford will be a big miss.
“This has been a huge problem for me, that we do not have a like-for-like number nine.
“It is a massive loss losing Patrick. He has done so well not getting injured up to this point.”
