BBC journalist shares early Leeds team news, Monk makes big selection call

By Alex Stevens

Leeds have no fresh injuries ahead of their Championship clash against Fulham on Tuesday night, according to a reliable journalist.

BBC correspondent Adam Pope revealed on Twitter on Monday afternoon that manager Garry Monk will be able to call upon a full-strength squad for the promotion showdown at Craven Cottage.

Pope took to his personal Twitter account to report that there have been no injury setbacks since Leeds’ 3-1 win at Birmingham on Friday night.

He also shared that striker Marcus Antonsson has travelled with the squad to London in what is an unexpected recall.

The forward has not even made the substitute’s bench for Leeds’ last five matches even though he has been fully fit and available for selection.

Antonsson is now in the running to return to the matchday 18 and provide another attacking option for Monk and his coaching staff.

Antonsson has not had any league action since a late substitute appearance in the 3-0 win against Rotherham on 2 January, and has not scored in the Championship since October.

In total, he has made 21 appearances in all competitions for the Yorkshire giants this season but has scored just three goals, two of which came in the League Cup.

The excellent form of main striker Chris Wood, the re-emergence of versatile forward Souleymane Doukara and the deadline day signings of Alfonso Pedraza and Modou Barrow have pushed Antonsson down the Elland Road pecking order.

Wood scored twice at Birmingham on Friday to lift his league tally for the campaign to 22 and Pedraza came off the bench to add the team’s third with a cool finish.

Leeds head to Fulham aiming to secure their third consecutive win and maintain their promotion charge.

The former Champions League club are fourth in the table with a tally of 64 points from 35 matches, eight ahead of seventh-placed Fulham.

In other Leeds team news, the club are to pounce and re-sign a 23-year-old after a £10million transfer is all but sealed.
