Ben Godfrey has rejected multiple offers to extend his contract at Everton and will now go into the final year of his deal at Goodison Park, sources have told Football Insider

Italian giants Milan have held a long-term interest in the English centre-back after previously enquiring about his availability in the January transfer window.

Everton were reluctant to let Godfrey leave the club at the time and he went on to feature heavily in the second half of the campaign in their successful fight against relegation.

The defender's future is now up in the air again after turning down the latest proposals from the Merseysiders to extend his deal beyond June 2025.

Ben Godfrey could leave Everton after contract update

Godfrey’s time with Everton has been ravaged by injuries since joining the club from Norwich City in a £25million deal back in 2020.

The defender has only featured 28 times in all competitions over the past two seasons, having previously shown promise in his early days at Goodison.

After warming the bench for the majority of the first half of last season, Sean Dyche handed him an opportunity at right-back at the start of this calendar year – a position he went on to feature in 11 times as Everton fought off relegation.

But that run in the side hasn’t temped the Englishman into signing a contract extension, fuelling speculation around his future at the club.

Although the Merseyside giants don’t want to lose Godfrey, sales are on the cards this summer after Football Insider revealed last month the club will need to sell at least one of their “big” stars before they submit their accounts at the end of June
