Said Benrahma will undergo a West Ham medical later today after a breakthrough between the forward and Brentford, Football Insider can exclusively reveal.
The deal appeared close to collapse last weekend after an issue between the Championship club and his representative placed it in jeopardy.
However, all issues have now been resolved and the green light has been given for Benrahma to make a move worth up to £25million.
A recruitment source has told Football Insider that the versatile attacker, 25, will begin medical tests today and the transfer is now expected to be completed ahead of Friday’s 5pm domestic cut-off.
Benrahma will become the third new signing at West Ham this window, following the arrival of Vladimir Coufal from Slavia Prague and Craig Dawson’s season-long loan from Watford.
The Hammers also made Tomas Soucek’s loan deal permanent before the end of last season.
Benrahma has now returned to London from international duty after coming off the bench in Tuesday night’s 2-2 draw with Mexico, which was played in Holland.
His arrival at the London Stadium will ease the pressure on the board, who have attracted huge criticism from fans after the sale of Grady Diangana to West Brom earlier in the summer.
The Hammers have been on a far tighter budget than in previous seasons but have substantially trimmed their wage bill by loaning Felipe Anderson to Porto and negotiating the termination of Jack Wilshere’s contract.
West Ham also freed up cash with the sales of Jordan Hugill, Albian Ajeti and the free transfer of goalkeeper Roberto.
In other news, a huge Michail Antonio-West Ham update can be revealed.
