Darren Bent has tipped Jose Mourinho to axe Ben Davies from the Tottenham starting XI when Sergio Reguilon has settled into the club.
The former Spurs and England striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge, admits he has never been sold by the Wales international and believes he is only good enough to act as “backup” for Jose Mourinho.
Spurs confirmed the capture of the 23-year-old Spain international from Real Madrid on Saturday.

Davies, 27, was Spurs’ first-choice left-back last season and has been a favourite of Mourinho’s since he took charge in north London.
The Portuguese boss has started the Welsh ace in all but one league game since he recovered from an ankle injury back in February.
However, Bent believes that the new arrival poses a serious threat to Davies’ playing time and has tipped the Spaniard to replace him in the starting XI before too long.
Bent told Football Insider: “You know what, it’s no disrespect to Ben Davies but I kind of look at Ben Davies as backup anyway.
“I feel like when Danny Rose was there and when he was fully fit and flying, Ben Davies was a backup and an adequate backup because he’ll never let you down.
“As far as being your first-choice left-back, nah, not for me. With Reguilon coming in, that is competition and I fully expect, once he’s settled down and into the swing of things, him to become their first-choice left-back.”
Davies, who has played the full 90 minutes in both of the club’s league games this season, has a total of 193 appearances under his belt for Spurs as well as 52 caps for Wales.
Reguilon meanwhile has played once for Spain, 22 times for Real Madrid and 38 times for Sevilla in what was a loan spell last season.
