Arsenal fans sung the praises of one particular star for his role in their 3-0 win at home to Nottingham Forest on Saturday.

Mikel Arteta's side were clinical, and two goals from Martin Zubimendi and another Premier League strike for Viktor Gyokeres secured all three points for the Gunners.

Arteta's men were able to shake off the early set back, breezing past Nottingham Forest, on a tough day for new boss Ange Postecoglou.

Postecoglou's worst nightmare was coming up against Arsenal in his first game and Arteta's side showed the Australian exactly why in a clinical display.

One star shines bright in Arsenal rout

Arteta showed Arsenal's strength in depth in the other dugout, bringing Declan Rice, Gabriel Martinelli and Myles Lewis-Skelley off the bench during the game.

However, it was the performance of one man that began the match that caught the eye of a host of Arsenal fans who flocked to X (formerly Twitter) to praise his performance.

It was Jurrien Timber, who drew the biggest plaudits from the Arsenal faithful, with one Arsenal fan even comparing the right-back to Brazilian legend Cafu.

One Arsenal fan discussed Timber, saying: "Feel like we should talk about this guy more. Among the most consistently excellent defenders I've ever seen play for Arsenal."

While another echoed that sentiment, saying: "Jurrïen Timber. What a player. There’s no better RB itl currently, I’d go so far to argue he’s top 2/3 in world football at his best."

Meanwhile, another praised Timber's consistency, saying: "Timber, Gabriel and Sakas levels never drops below 7/10. Insane consistency from those guys."
