Leeds are in contention to sign up Huddersfield striker Nahki Wells, according to the latest bookmakers’ odds.
SkyBet has the Whites priced at 7/1 third favourites to land Wells, 27, from their bitter Yorkshire rivals before the transfer window slams shut at the end of this month.
Reading are currently 4/1 favourites to complete a successful swoop for the striker while Birmingham (13/2) and Burnley (8/1) are also in the running.
Wells is yet to feature in both of Huddersfield’s first Premier League fixtures this month, suggesting that the ex-Bradford striker has fell down the pecking order at the John Smiths’ Stadium in the wake of a high volume of summer signings.
He scored 10 goals in 47 appearances across all competitions for the Terriers last term as they secured promotion from the Championship in the play-off final.
Leeds could be on the lookout for a new striker following widespread reports that Chris Wood is due to complete a move to Burnley within the coming days.
The New Zealand international, 25, is said to be fetching the Whites £15million, which some of could be used towards snapping up Wells.
Leeds have had a very busy summer this year and have already made significant signings to bolster their squad.
Caleb Ekuban started up front in Saturday’s win at Sunderland while Souleymane Doukara is another option to stand in for Wood.
