Betting latest: Everton installed favourites to sign Manchester City player

By Amir Mir

Everton are the favourites to sign Manchester City attacker Kelechi Iheanacho this summer, according to the latest betting odds.

Leading bookmaker Sky Bet have priced the Toffees at odds of 3/1 to land the 20-year-old before September 3.

The Sun previously claimed that the Merseyside giants are ready to launch a shock bid of £20million for Iheanacho as they look for a replacement for exit-bound Romelu Lukaku.

Iheanacho being targetted by the Toffees to replace Lukaku would come as a surprise to many given his lack of experience in the top tier.

West Ham are second favourites (7/2) to land his signature as a sensational transfer could be on the cards for the highly-rated attacker.

The 20-year-old has come through the ranks at City and has played 29 matches in all competitions this term, scoring seven goals.

Added to that, he has played 20 league matches for Pep Guardiola’s side but started only five of those encounters, scoring four goals and supplying three assists.

Compared with Lukaku, who revealed he won’t sign a new deal with the club, he has finished the season as the second highest goal-getter in the Premier League.

He struck 25 league goals during the season as he helped his team secure a top-seven finish in the table.

Football Insider verdict:

Iheanacho has featured in sporadic fashion since Guardiola walked through the doors at the Etihad Stadium last summer. The price fee being suggested for the striker would be too much for an unproven youngster but a loan deal would definitely suit Ronald Koeman’s side. When Iheanacho has been given time on the field, he has shown that he has a natural ability to find the back of the net. Therefore, moving to Goodison Park where he will be able to play regular football, could unleash a little gem for Koeman’s team. However, if there is a big fee asked for the Nigeria international than the Toffees should look elsewhere.
