Everton are the favourites to sign FC Koln striker Anthony Modeste this summer, according to the latest bookmakers’ odds.
Bet Victor have placed odds of 3/1 on the Merseysiders landing the 29-year-old before 3 September.
This puts Everton ahead in the betting of fellow Premier League side West Ham, who are 4/1, and any super-rich Chinese club, who are 5/1, while English giants Arsenal are 6/1.
Now, Toffees boss Ronald Koeman may be on the search for a new striker with star Romelu Lukaku’s future at the club in doubt as he enters the final two years of his deal at the club.
Additionally, many have felt that Everton don’t have good enough backup for Lukaku if he does stay with the Toffees with the likes of loanee Enner Valencia and Arouna Kone behind the Belgium international in the striker pecking order.
Now, Frenchman Modeste will certainly be on the radar of Koeman after scoring a stunning 23 goals in 29 league outings for Koln this season.
The goal machine’s efforts have helped his side take up seventh place in the German top-flight as they sit three points off fifth.
He does however still have four years left on his contract at the club, but if he does sign Everton fans will be hoping he can bring the same sort of success with him to England.
In other Everton transfer news, Lionel Mess has vetoed this Toffees deal.
