Paul Robinson has claimed Marcus Rashford has rediscovered his best form at Man United because he is being deployed as a central striker.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Spurs and England number one said the 24-year-old is best utilised as a nine rather than a winger.

Rashford has re-established himself in the Red Devils starting XI under Erik ten Hag this season.

The England international scored a brace and provided an assist in a match-winning display against Arsenal on 4 September.

According to The Sun's club source (10 September), Rashford will be United's first-choice striker this season.

Ten Hag is said to be a huge fan of the striker and believes he is capable of scoring at least 20 goals.

When asked by Football Insider for his thoughts on Rashford's form, Robinson said: "The big difference is he is being deployed down the middle.

"That is why we are seeing a better Marcus Rashford. He has openly said that he enjoys playing down the middle. You get the best out of him when he plays as a number nine.

"He has still got things to learn with his runs but it's definitely his best position. When he plays down the middle he can use his pace to get in behind teams.

"In Bruno Fernandes and Christian Eriksen United have two players who can found Rashford if he is making those runs.

"Erik ten Hag has limited options up top but if they want somebody to stretch teams and get in behind there is not many better.

"It is a big vote of confidence for him to be starting ahead of [Cristiano] Ronaldo as well. It will have done his confidence the world of good."
